According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the former New England running back is joining the Caserio-led Houston front office as a player personnel assistant. This will be Vereen’s first move into the executive ranks since retiring a few years ago.
Vereen, who is most known for his on-field activities, most recently worked as an analyst for the Pac-12 Network. The most prominent of those involved Vereen, who was selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2011 draft out of Cal. The 35-year-old Vereen had a great seven-year playing career with the Giants and Pats.

Vereen was a vital element in a Tom Brady-centered offensive strategy as a New England player. Former Patriots passing-down backs Kevin Faulk and Danny Woodhead were employed by the organization; Vereen eventually took over in this role and remained there until the team allowed him to go in free agency ahead of James White’s protracted tenure. Vereen has more than 400 receiving yards from 2013 to 2015; nevertheless, his best season (838 scrimmage yards, five touchdowns) occurred in 2014, when the Patriots won Super Bowl XLIX.

In 2015, Vereen signed a three-year, $12.35MM contract with the Giants after collecting 11 catches for 64 yards in the Pats’ thrilling victory over the Seahawks in the final seconds. He fulfilled his contract, but after the 2017 season, he was not employed anyplace else. As the Texans prepare for their most anticipated season in a long time, Caserio, who was in place as Bill Belichick’s right-hand man in personnel when the team selected Vereen, will reunite with the four-year Patriot.
