Jordan Love, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, is expected to remain the team’s starting quarterback for an extended period of time. Love conquered all challenges and concluded his first starting season with a 64.2% completion percentage, 4,159 throwing yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.1 passer rating, despite doubts about his ability prior to the 2023 NFL season.
In team history, it was the finest season for a quarterback starting his rookie season. Additionally, before entering his third season as a starter, he was the only quarterback in NFL history to achieve those kinds of numbers.

Not only did Love give hope to millions of Packers fans for the future of their favorite NFL franchise, he also set himself up for a nice payday. Prior to the 2023 season, the Packers and Love agreed to a two-year contract that gave him a raise as the starting quarterback and bought out his fifth-year option.

Finishing the season as a top-ten quarterback in the NFL has opened the door for Love to sign the largest contract in franchise history, but that has not happened yet.

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Could Make $60 Million a Year

 

When the offseason first began, many thought Love would get an extension that would pay him somewhere in the neighborhood of $46 million per year. However, two other extensions were signed by other NFL quarterbacks that have made many believe he may become the first quarterback to make $60 million a year.

First, the Detroit Lions gave Jared Goff a four-year extension that will pay him $53 million per season. The deal made him the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL (in terms of money per year) behind Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals ($55 million).

Second, the Jacksonville Jaguars gave Trevor Lawrence a massive contract extension that is worth $55 million per year. This extension ties Burrow for the most money made per year in the NFL.

The fact of the matter is that Love was better than Lawrence last year and should be paid more:

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Addresses What a Contract Extension Would Mean to Him

Love recently spoke with Bleacher Report in a “Ask Me Anything” video chat. He was questioned about what it would mean to him to sign a contract extension with the Packers throughout the episode.

“That would mean a lot to me,” he answered. That would be fantastic. I believe that every athlete dreams of signing a contract extension with the organization that drafted them. Maintain the same circumstances, the same group, and the company that supported you from the beginning.

Thus, I am eagerly anticipating that. I’m thrilled for the upcoming season, what it has in store for our club, and the opportunity to establish a long-term relationship here in Green Bay. Hopefully it occurs in the future.

Though it sounds like talks are still going on, Love is adamant that he wants to work with the Packers organization going forward.

Green Bay surely wants that too, given what they seen from him the previous season.
