Titans tight end talks about the “immaculate” feeling following summer adjustments.
The Tennessee Titans concluded the 2017 season in last place in the AFC South, indicating a poor year for them. The Titans finished with a 6-11 record, and in an attempt to improve upon that performance, they made a number of changes this offseason. A new head coach, Brian Callahan, is one of those adjustments as he is now leading Tennessee. Despite a difficult season the previous year, tight end Chig Okonkwo of the Titans believes there are many reasons to be optimistic.
Having only played for the Titans for two seasons, both of which have been strong, Chig Okonkwo hasn’t been in the NFL for very long. He believes that his club as a whole has a lot of promise and is aiming for another successful season.
Okonkwo stated, “A fresh start is always good, especially when you are coming off a lot of loss,” as per a post on the team website. “Right now, the building and ambiance are flawless. They’re fantastic. Right now, the future is exciting. I sense that the males in the building are more at ease right now. Men are entering and seeming less uptight and agitated. Additionally, it gives people far more freedom on the field and in the locker room.
This offseason, Chig Okonkwo has altered his physical appearance.
Chig Okonkwo has had a couple good years in the NFL, but he wanted to make some changes this offseason. He wants his body to be at its best all the time, and he has worked on making that possible.
“I feel like I maximized the potential I had in my body, and if I wanted to get better, I had to change the structure of how I move and stuff,” Okonkwo said. “(I feel) a big difference, even the way I feel, my body. I feel a lot better when I move. After a long day of moving, I don’t feel as sore.”
As for the entire tight end room, watch out for some more big plays. Chig Okonkwo noted that they might try open things up a bit.
“I think more down the field, attacking stuff, I would say,” Okonkwo said. “Using our speed to get those balls down the field. A lot of stuff has been shorter stuff in the past. I think we’re going to be able to open up a lot more things. It is very exciting when you see the stuff we’re bringing in. It feels like we’re going to be relying a lot on the pass, and that is going to be a big part of my game, too. So, I am very excited for that. I am very excited to have those guys on the outside, and get a lot of the attention, and then make plays on the inside.”
Fans of the Titans have reason to be enthusiastic about the upcoming season. This offseason, the team is working hard to implement the essential improvements.
