Wigan Warriors are set to host Leigh Leopards in a rare Tuesday night Super League game, rescheduled from Round Two. The original match was postponed to allow Wigan to compete in the World Club Challenge against Penrith Panthers. However, since Wigan advanced to the final and ultimately won the Challenge Cup, finding a free weekend to play the rearranged game proved difficult.
Last season, St Helens played their postponed match against Huddersfield Giants during the Challenge Cup Final weekend. However, this solution wasn’t feasible this year due to Wigan’s participation in the final.
In June, August 6th was selected as the new date for the game, meaning both teams would play three games within two weeks. Wigan and Leigh played on Thursday evening, and they will play again on Saturday and Sunday in Round 21 to accommodate the rescheduled match. The 21-man squads for both teams have now been announced.
