In a surprising twist for the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball program, junior forward Hannah Stuelke has officially announced her decision to declare for the 2025 WNBA Draft, forgoing her final year of college eligibility. This major announcement comes after a breakout season where she established herself as the new face of Iowa basketball following Caitlin Clark’s departure.
Stuelke, who averaged 14 points and 6.6 rebounds per game during the 2024–25 season, was instrumental in leading the Hawkeyes to another strong campaign. Stuelke’s departure marks the second straight year Iowa has lost its star player to the WNBA, and while the program has shown resilience, replacing her presence on and off the court will not be easy.

While it’s bittersweet, I’m excited to take the next step and chase my dream of playing professionally.”
