In an exclusive interview on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, legendary musician and frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Nick Cave, stunned listeners by announcing his plans for a highly anticipated solo European tour in the summer of 2025. The tour, which will span across 12 countries, marks Cave’s first solo performances in over a decade, further fueling the excitement surrounding his work in recent years.
The Australian-born artist, known for his poetic lyricism and dark, immersive live performances, has been a fixture in the music world for decades. His most recent collaboration, “Carnage,” a haunting and stripped-back album released in 2021, has been praised for its intimate, raw energy—qualities that Cave says will define his upcoming live shows.
“This tour will be an exploration of the personal and the primal,” Cave explained in the broadcast. “I’ve always felt that my best work comes from places of deep vulnerability. With this tour, I want to break the fourth wall entirely and create an atmosphere where every song, every note, feels like it’s happening right in front of you, just for you.”
The setlist is expected to draw from his expansive catalog, including tracks from his solo records like The Mercy Seat and Push the Sky Away, alongside newer material. Some of the more dramatic moments from his work with the Bad Seeds may also be reimagined for this intimate format, possibly using just piano or acoustic guitar, as Cave continues to evolve his sound and storytelling approach.
Fans will be particularly thrilled by the chance to witness his distinctive stage presence in smaller, more intimate venues compared to the grand arenas typically associated with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Though specifics of the venues have not yet been released, the tour is set to include stops in iconic cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam, as well as several smaller towns with a more personal connection to Cave’s fans.
The tour announcement comes after a year of reflection and experimentation for Cave, who recently completed an intimate spoken word tour and published his best-selling book, The Sick Bag Song. The solo European tour offers a return to the musical stage, but with a distinct, stripped-back, and deeply personal angle.
