Jesse Duplantis stood at the pulpit, his voice trembling, his eyes filled with unshed tears. The congregation, accustomed to his charismatic sermons and lighthearted humor, had never seen him like this before. He took a deep breath, gripped the sides of the podium, and looked up as if searching the heavens for the right words.
“The mistake I have ever did,” he began, his voice cracking, “is thinking I could control what belongs to God.”

He continued, “For years, I believed I knew the path God had set for me. I believed if I spoke the right words, prayed the right prayers, and followed my own understanding, everything would fall into place. But I was wrong.”
The audience leaned in. Some exchanged glances, wondering what he was about to reveal.
“I thought I could outpace God,” Jesse admitted. “I pushed ahead when He told me to wait. I made decisions that seemed wise in my own eyes, but they were not aligned with His will. And because of that, I nearly lost everything.”
A single tear slid down his cheek. “I invested in things God never called me to. I followed voices that were not His. I convinced myself that as long as I declared success, it would come, forgetting that true success comes from surrender, not ambition.”
A woman in the front row whispered, “Jesus, help him.”
Jesse nodded as if he heard her. “And yet, in my greatest mistake, God showed me mercy. He let me fall just enough to see that without Him, I am nothing. He reminded me that my calling is not about wealth, not about fame, but about souls.”
He stepped back from the podium, lifted his hands, and cried out, “Lord, forgive me!”
The church erupted—not in judgment, but in prayer. Hands lifted, voices rose, and in that moment, Jesse Duplantis found the redemption that had been waiting for him all along.
And so, the greatest mistake he ever made became the testimony that changed his life forever.
