Ivan Miroshnichenko’s Hot Start Continues with ROAR Celebration After Team-Leading Fifth Goal for Hershey Bears

Hershey Bears prospect Ivan Miroshnichenko has been making waves in the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, and his performance during the Bears’ recent matchup against the Chicago Wolves on Sunday only adds to the excitement. The 20-year-old Russian forward, who was a first-round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2022 NHL Draft, netted his fifth goal of the season in a power-play opportunity, continuing his red-hot start.

Miroshnichenko’s goal came late in the first period when the Bears were given a power play, with the team already pressuring the Wolves’ defense. Normally stationed in the “Ovi Spot” – the left faceoff circle that’s famously utilized by Capitals star Alex Ovechkin – Miroshnichenko adjusted his position to the middle of the ice, taking advantage of a perfect setup by teammate Alex Limoges. The young forward wasted no time, firing a quick, low shot past Chicago Wolves goaltender Yanik Perets to light the lamp.

It wasn’t just the goal that caught the attention of fans, but Miroshnichenko’s jubilant celebration afterward. As he skated towards the bench, he showcased his “ROAR” celly, a lighthearted but passionate display of excitement. The celebration has quickly become a fan favorite, with social media buzzing about the 20-year-old’s energy and joy. His enthusiasm is contagious, both on and off the ice, and it seems to be fueling his stellar start to the season.

The goal wasn’t the only highlight of Miroshnichenko’s game. He also registered the primary assist on defenseman Brad Hunt’s goal in the second period, giving him his second multi-point game of the season. Miroshnichenko’s offensive contributions are coming at crucial moments for the Bears, helping the team remain competitive in their early-season battles.

With five goals in just five games, Miroshnichenko now leads the Bears in scoring and is tied for third place in the AHL’s goal-scoring race. This is a significant improvement for the young forward, who scored nine goals in 47 games during his rookie season in the AHL last year. His development has been closely watched by the Capitals’ organization, and his early success in the 2024-25 season is a positive indicator for his future NHL career.

Earlier in the season, Miroshnichenko recorded his first career AHL hat trick, showing off the scoring touch and skill that made him a coveted prospect. Known for his powerful shot, speed, and hockey IQ, Miroshnichenko is increasingly proving that he has what it takes to make an impact at the professional level.

His rapid development is especially impressive considering the challenges he has overcome in his young career. Before being drafted, Miroshnichenko faced a battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but he successfully overcame the disease and has since dedicated himself to improving his game. His perseverance and determination are clearly paying off, as he is now one of the AHL’s most exciting young talents.

As Miroshnichenko continues to shine for the Bears, Washington Capitals fans are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for him. If his early-season performance is any indication, Mirosh
