BREAKING NEWS: Trump campaign requests military protection, fearing ‘Iran threat’……
An unprecedented request for a US presidential candidate, Donald Trump’s campaign has asked to utilize military planes to shield the outgoing president in the closing weeks of the election.
The extraordinary request, which also included increased flight restrictions over Trump’s homes and rallies and a fleet of military vehicles to transport him, was made on Friday, The New York Times and Washington Post reported. Many people in Trump’s inner circle have grown to believe—without proof—that Iran may have been responsible for two recent attempts on the former president’s life.
In the recent past, no presidential candidate has used military aircraft for campaigning before to an election. Because she is a woman, Kamala Harris is protected by the military and takes flight aboard Air Force Two, a military aircraft.
The requests are the most recent in a growing conflict between the Secret Service and Trump’s entourage. The latter has admitted to bungling security during a campaign rally in July that resulted in Trump being shot at and slightly injured.
It is thought that Ryan Routh, a gunman who was discovered in September reportedly pointing a weapon through a fence at a West Palm Beach, Florida golf club where Trump was playing, and the attacker in that case, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was slain on the spot, acted alone.
Routh has entered a not guilty plea to charges of attempted assassination.
In a statement, a Secret Service spokesman claimed that Trump is already getting “the highest levels of protection,” which included temporary flight limitations.
