The Kansas City Chiefs will now become a movie
On Tuesday, the franchise announced on their social media account that they have entered into a partnership with Hallmark and that together they will make a film in honour of the back-to-back champions. The two brands have been working side by side for years
It will be called ‘Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story’.
No, it’s not about the love story between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, although the title suggests that. But the choice of the term ‘love story’ may have been inspired by the singer’s song…
The recordings will begin in July and will all take place in Kansas City, Missouri – some will even be shot at the Arrowhead Stadium.
The movie’s release date has not yet been announced. Everything points to it being aired during the 15th annual Countdown to Christmas event.

What the movie is about
Hallmark chief brand officer Darren Abbott commented on the intention to start a cinematographic project with the franchise: “With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” said.
“By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”
Here’s a synopsis written by the Hallmark Channel of what fans can expect from the film:
“In Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, Alana Higman (Hunter King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (Tyler Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists,”.
“As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”
