“The Sky Is The Limit” For Young QB, Says Former NFL GM
Prior to the 2023 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers made the bold decision to give quarterback Jordan Love the reins for the team’s future leadership after trading four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets in a blockbuster deal.
Similar to how the team abandoned Hall of Famer Brett Favre in favor of Aaron Rodgers, Love lacked experience and there was considerable doubt as to whether he was the real deal at quarterback.
Unfortunately for Love, Green Bay didn’t appear to be a team that could contend in the NFC with a possibly protracted rebuilding process getting begun, thus the first half of his first season as the starting quarterback didn’t start well.
But in the second half of the season, Love completely turned things around, proving to his skeptics that he was, in fact, the genuine deal and possibly the best quarterback in the league.
NFL insider Mike Tannenbaum believes that the sky is the limit for Love and if he were running an NFL team right now he’d take Love to build around if he couldn’t have Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs via NFL on ESPN.
“Outside of Patrick Mahomes, if we … were running an NFL team today, there is nobody on the planet I’d rather have than Jordan Love,” Tannenbaum said.
The real question now is whether Love can follow up a breakout season with another solid campaign during the 2024 NFL season and take the Packers deeper in the NFL playoffs.
Only time will tell if Love has what it takes to be a successful quarterback in this league long-term and whether he can win a Super Bowl like Favre and Rodgers did before him.
