QB Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reveals lofty objectives for 2024.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope to repeat as NFC South division winners and make it back to the playoffs in the 2024 NFL season. They feel they have a very strong chance of succeeding, led by Baker Mayfield.

In the 2023 NFL season, Mayfield brought his career back to full health. He performed like a franchise quarterback for the Buccaneers, and this offseason, he was rewarded with a massive three-year contract worth $100 million, with incentives potentially worth up to $115 million.

He ended up completing 64.3 percent of his pass attempts for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Those numbers have given the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope that he is truly ready for an even bigger breakout season in 2024. Mayfield has those exact same goals in mind.

Mayfield just gave an update on his objectives for the 2024 season in a quote that ESPN released. He wants to improve upon his current performance.

“Obviously last year was a lot of trying to learn the system on the fly, get to know teammates as well, balancing that performance versus getting to know everybody and trying to be a leader. But now, going through it — obviously you have some new faces here — but going through a year with these guys, trying to be more in command. I am vocal, but most of the time I’m only vocal when I need to be. I’m kind of a ‘lead by example’ type guy. So really now it’s taking the next step in the vocal aspect — getting everybody on the same page.”

While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers giving Mayfield such a big contract was a big step for the 29-year-old quarterback, he doesn’t want to feel comfortable in his current situation.

“You never want to feel comfortable. Yeah, is it great that I know I’m going to be here for the next couple of years? Of course. It means I get to settle in here, be myself even more so and push these guys to the next level. It’s a good feeling.”

The stage has been set for Mayfield to finally prove why he was taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has had a rollercoaster journey so far, but seems to have finally found a home in Tampa.

In 2024, Mayfield will hopefully live up to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ high expectations. He possesses powerful weaponry and a changed perspective. He’s going to have a great year.
